Bruce Springsteen- 1977

February 23rd, 1977 in Chicago, Illinois. I did a favor for the promoter and in return he gave me photo passes to some of his shows. The first one was Bruce Springsteen. This is where I first saw Bruce in all of his glory and power and I was hooked! I didn’t know I had gotten this photograph until I developed the film the next day, but it was a winner.

Bruce Springsteen- 1978

November 22nd, 1978 in Evanston, Illinois. The student booking committee at Northwestern University hired Bruce to play their homecoming concert. They had good taste.

Bruce Springsteen- 1980

October 19th, 1980 in Chicago. This was the first time that I got a “real’ photo pass from management. Well worth the wait.

Bruce Springsteen- 1984

June 29th, 1984 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Opening date of the “Born in the USA” tour. I photographed all three nights of the opening weekend. This photo graced the covers on several Rock magazines around the world.

Bruce Springsteen- 1984

July 3rd, 1984 in East Troy, Wisconsin. After shooting the opening weekend of the tour, I came back to Chicago, but I didn’t have enough! So I asked if I could shoot one of the dates in Southern Wisconsin. Headed up there to get some of the best pictures I have ever gotten of Bruce. One of them (checkered shirt) graced the August cover of Newsweek the following year.

Bruce Springsteen- 1985

August 9th, 1985 in Chicago. Summer of 1985, Bruce “graduated” from arenas to football stadiums, my picture was on the cover of Newsweek Magazine, and I was invited to Soldier Field in Chicago to shoot one of the first stadium shows. A spectacular show with a perfect combination of stage lighting and daylight.

Bruce Springsteen- 1988

March 16th, 1988 in Rosemont, Illinois. Another great Bruce show. It is always amazing how much energy he has. He never seems to get old.

Bruce Springsteen- 1995

September 2nd, 1995 in Cleveland, Ohio. Grand opening of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The highlight of the concert was Bruce singing with Bob Dylan. In the beginning of Bruce’s career, he was always called the “New Dylan” so this was a fitting duet.

Bruce Springsteen- 2005

March 14th, 2005 in New York City. On this night, Bruce gave a speech inducting U2 into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at a ceremony in New York. I was there with Buddy Guy, who was also inducted, but the highlight of the night was Bruce singing with U2.

Bruce Springsteen- 2012

September 12th, 2012 in Chicago. Bruce and Little Steven jamming out at Wrigley Field in a rainstorm. Still great after all these years.
